JB Sport + Education take over The Cage

We’re delighted to announce that JB Sport + Education are now managing The Cage at Wolds Yard, West Ashby, creating an exciting base for football, sport, education and community activity in Horncastle and the wider area.

This is an important new chapter for us, and one that we believe can have a positive impact not just on our own programmes, but on local families, grassroots sports clubs, students and the wider community.

The new home of our Football Academy

One of the main changes you’ll see is the relocation of our popular Monday Night Football Academy, which is moving from Horncastle Town Football Club.

From Monday 7th September, our sessions will now take place at The Cage, Wolds Yard, West Ashby, Horncastle, LN9 5PS

The Cage is a specialist indoor venue designed for football training, matches and community sport. Having an indoor facility gives us the consistency we’ve been looking for, particularly throughout the winter months, helping to minimise weather-related disruption while giving children the perfect environment in which to develop their football skills.

There’s also ample free parking, making drop-off and collection straightforward for parents and carers.

Our Monday sessions will run as follows:

• Reception & Year 1
  4.30pm to 5.15pm
• Years 2, 3 & 4
  5.15pm to 6.00pm

And importantly, the price will remain at £4.50 per session, so there is no change to the current cost.

We’re also working on exciting opportunities for our Years 5 & 6 children, alongside potential nursery and tots sessions, with more information to follow.

More than just a football venue

The Cage will also continue to be used by JB Sport + Education’s BTEC Sport students, giving our learners a practical environment where they can develop their skills and gain valuable experience in the sports industry. You can find out more about our Level 3 BTEC Sport programme here.

We’re also pleased to be welcoming local football teams, who will be using The Cage for training and other activities, as well as a local boxing club.

For grassroots clubs, schools, organisations and individuals, The Cage will also be available to hire for sporting events, training sessions and other activities, with pricing available on enquiry.

Supporting parents and the wider community

As we develop the venue, our long-term plan is to make refreshments available for parents and visitors, creating a welcoming environment where people can grab a drink, relax and watch sessions.

There is also office space and a working kitchen available for hire, opening up further opportunities for local businesses, organisations and community groups.

What’s next for The Cage?

Over the coming months, we’ll be looking at new football programmes, opportunities for younger children, activities for older age groups, community events and ways to make better use of the facility throughout the week.
